St Andrews Professor of Chemistry and CEE Member Professor John Irvine has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours list for his services to the UK’s Green Economy. John leads the JTSI Group which undertakes cutting-edge research in the fields of energy and materials, including battery technology, catalysis, and hydrogen technologies. This research crosses and engages multiple disciplines from chemistry and physics, bioenergy, geoscience, engineering, to economics and policy.

“John’s scholarship is truly inspiring,” said Centre Director Dr Mette High, “this is a very well-deserved honour.”

Also on the honours list was St Andrews Honorary Professor of Chemistry Robert Tooze. Bob, a recent addition to the CEE, was awarded an MBE for services to science and industry.
