We are thrilled to announce that Dr Itay Noy will be joining us from 1 October as the inaugural Centre for Energy Ethics Postdoctoral Fellow. Funded by The Gabrione Family, the Fellowship is a 1-year award offered to an outstanding early career researcher working on issues of energy ethics in the arts, humanities, social or natural sciences. Itay did his PhD at the London School of Economics on inequalities, politics and labour among coal miners working on the margins of one of India’s largest coal mines. The project was affiliated with a large research programme on poverty and inequality, which brought together scholars across social scientific disciplines. Itay has also worked with international development organisations, like the World Bank, ILO and UNICEF, and co-curated a large photo exhibition together with journalists, activists and researchers. At the CEE, he is keen to explore the dynamics of protest and participation in coal mining in relation to broader imaginaries of energy use and production in India.
