6th Transatlantic Conference on
The Ethics of Business, Trade, & Global Governance

Location: University of St Andrews
Date: 23 November 2023
Submissions Deadline: 15 – 24 September 2023

Keynote Speakers: Barbara Casu (Bayes Business School) and Mollie Painter (Nottingham Trent University)

The Department of Finance at the University of St Andrews Business School, in cooperation with the Department of Finance, University of Vienna, and the Center for Ethics in Society, Saint Anselm College, announces a call for proposals for an interdisciplinary conference on economics, ethics, and global governance in banking and finance.

The current economic turmoil driven by war, geopolitical tension and inflation is amplifying uncertainties and instability. As
such, banking systems are again entering the centre stage, together with unregulated crypto markets and a lack of integration
of international financial markets. These developments raise again questions about ethical behaviour in business, socially
responsible investments, governance, risk-taking and protective regulation.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Resiliency and Sustainability
  • Banks Ownership
  • Corporate Governance
  • Social responsibility
  • Supply-Chain, International Commerce
  • Financial Integration and Innovation
  • Ethics
  • Global Governance.

The goal of this interdisciplinary conference is to bring together ethicists, economists, political scientists,
international relations scholars, policy experts, and business leaders to examine how banking, international
trade and investments can be conducted more ethically in a post-pandemic and conflict context.
