As funding for the position draws to a close, the Centre for Energy Ethics would like to express our sincere thanks to our inaugural Grant Writer, Gwenaelle Joubert, for her outstanding contribution to the Centre and its members.
Throughout her time at the Centre, Gwen – the first specialist grant writer to be employed at the University of St Andrews – provided strong leadership and proactive assistance to our members seeking to apply for external funding. She brought in a wealth of experience from the charity sector and was always willing to step up and help team members where required – serving as a lead volunteer for major events such as Energy-in-Motion.
On her time at the Centre, Gwen said:
“My experience with the CEE has been invaluable. I am thankful for the opportunity to have developed a much deeper understanding of academia and research generally, but also greater appreciation for the research taking place around energy and climate challenge. The CEE has given me the opportunity to support a diverse range of grant applications and learn about the fascinating projects taking place throughout the spaces in which it operates.”
“The CEE team has been a pleasure to work with – they are a genuinely supportive and talented team. I hope our paths cross again in the future.”
Gwen is set to take up a role as the Fundraising and Membership Manager for the West Highland Way Trust. In this role, Gwen will help raise money for the support of the Way and its maintenance, working in partnership with the communities along it.

All of us here at the Centre for Energy Ethics would like to express our gratitude to Gwen for her work and the energy she brought to the office and her role. Her last day with the Centre will be Monday 17 August.
