PEPtalk: Being Part of Energy Policy – how to make the right decisions?
From the outside to the inside of the policy circle – during our next PEP talk, we will hear from two leading energy scientists in Scotland and their way into politics.
Dr Kirsten Jenkins is energy equity and justice researcher from the University of Edinburgh and, since January 2024, Climate Change and Net Zero Adviser to the Scottish Parliament Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee, while also being member of the Scottish Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel.
Dr Sean Field is energy finance and policy researcher from the University of St Andrews and, since August 2024, Lead Analyst at the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) heading the government’s ‘Local Net Zero Accelerator Programme’.
During the panel discussion both will share their experience in actively shaping transition politics in Scotland and the UK, their way there, the opportunities and rewards, as well as the challenges and struggles.
