Passionate about collaborating with the CEE research community as our next Artist in Residence?

As the hugely successful residency of our current Artist in Residence Rebecca Sharp closes in May 2024, the CEE is able to host an artist (any medium) to take up a residency from summer 2024 onwards.

The CEE Artist in Residence scheme provides an artist the opportunity to develop their skills, build on their creative practice, exhibit new work, engage with our energy research and become part of a community of scholars in ways that are inviting and out-of-the-ordinary.

The purpose of this Residency is to produce new work in response to the questions, findings, theories, methods, collaborations or other dimensions of our research. By making interdisciplinary connections between art and energy research, the artwork can inspire and challenge both scholars and visitors.

During the residency, the artist will be given the opportunity to work from the workshop spaces of collaborating institutions and immerse themselves in the research environment of the CEE and the University more broadly.

The scheme is aimed at ‘emerging’ artists, aiming to support those who are in the first 5-15 years of their professional careers.

The term of residency is 12-18 months, dependent on funding. In the past the CEE has matched external funding (e.g. Creative Scotland).
