Biography
Anne’s research explores the intersection of travel, mobility, and climate change. It does so by examining from an ecocritical perspective how contemporary artists incorporate those themes in their work. Those artists are from across the globe and in their emerging to mid-career stages. Deriving from their work, five categories of travel are at the centre of this project, namely “Expedition, Exploration and Voyages”, “Tourism and Recreation”, “Migration”, “Fieldwork”, and “Non-Human Movement”. While being grounded in art history, it brings together several bodies of literature. Those range from sociological and anthropological accounts on travel and mobility to the environmental humanities, political ecology, and ecocriticism.
Anne is the co-organiser of the Looking North Through Art series, funded in part through the CEE’s Event Grant Scheme.
