The Environmental Futures Research Group at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus invites you to attend a one-day symposium on environmental futures. This event will feature guest talks by national and international scholars on critical future studies, futuring methodologies, and pathways towards sustainable futures. 

The symposium will be held at the Centre for Research and Innovation, 1 Mill Road, Corner Brook, NL. All sessions will also be streamed on Zoom. Please note that the event schedule follows Newfoundland Daylight Savings Time, which is 1.5 hours ahead of EDT.

Featured speakers include:

  • Dr. Guilia Champion (Research Fellow at the University of Southampton), “Speculative and Future Infrastructure: What the Visualisation of Deep-Sea Mining Reveals”
  • Dr. Brent Ryan Bellamy (Sessional Faculty at Trent University and Ontario Tech University), “Ecology with Totality: The Case of Morton’s Hyperobjects and Klein’s This Changes Everything
  • Dr. Umme Kulsum (Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Environmental Policy Institute, MUN), “Futuring methodologies to support sustainable coastal communities”
