Biography

Serena is a Social Anthropologist currently completing her doctoral studies at the University of Liverpool. Her research focuses on domestic energy practices in the Majority World and, specifically on the health, environmental, and social concerns associated with relying upon polluting fuels for cooking. Through extensive ethnographic fieldwork in Kenya, she documented the social practices involved in procuring household energy, excavated the local understanding of pollution, danger, and health, and examined the potential for clean cooking options like LPG gas bottles to achieve universal clean cooking by 2030 under the SDG7 agenda.
