Biography

I am a climate scientist and Lecturer in the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of St Andrews and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow in the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics Group at the University of Oxford. I completed my PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where my advisor was Paul O’Gorman.

I lead the Climate Dynamics Lab at the University of St Andrews. Our research addresses questions in atmospheric and climate dynamics, monsoons, land-climate interactions, the water cycle and past & future climate change. Recently we have been working to understand how clouds and water vapour influence monsoons, the dynamics of the intertropical convergence zone and why continents and oceans respond differently to climate change.
