Biography

Giovanni Frigo is an Italian PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas, home of a unique doctoral Program focused on Environmental Philosophy and Ethics, and headquarter of the first journal in the field, Environmental Ethics. He received his Bachelor and Master in Philosophy from the University of Verona, Italy. During the academic year 2009-2010 he participated in the Erasmus Exchange Program at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, in Paris, where he developed a profound interest for an ethical approach to environmental and energy issues. From 2011 to 2013 he worked at the construction of a passive house in Italy, where he studied practical issues regarding energy efficiency in buildings. Passionate about interdisciplinarity, Mr. Frigo has just finished his doctoral coursework with a biology minor, and he is also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Energy at the Engineering Department. Born and raised on the Italian Alps, he is an outdoor enthusiast, rock climbing devotee, and chess player. He is currently living in Denton, Texas, where he is researching about energy at the crossroads of ethics, ecology, and engineering.
