Biography

Darren McCauley is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of St. Andrews. His research investigates policy and activist discourses on a range of controversial energy systems including nuclear, biomass, and oil and gas. He has conducted research with local and national government representatives, civil service officials, business leaders and a wide range of activists throughout Europe, the US and Russia. A range of external bodies including most notably the British Academy, ESRC, EPSRC and the Carnegie Trust has funded the development of an agenda around exploring injustices throughout energy systems, from mining in the Arctic to waste in France. He has held lectureships at Trinity College Dublin, Queens and Stirling, after completing his PhD in political science at Queens University Belfast in 2008.
