Biography
Abhishek is an energy sector specialist and is a big proponent of decentralized energy.
An alumnus of IIT-Bombay and Cornell University, he looked at distributed energy resources from a policy, economics and technology lens at an energy regulator in the US and Canada’s largest utility. After returning to India, he worked as a founding employee of SunEdison’s retail platform for rooftop solar and storage (Fenice Energy). As the technical lead @ SunEdison, he led product (power electronics, structural solutions, digital products) and engineering. He also spearheaded several strategic initiatives, partnerships and acquisition scouting at the company, and was part of a committee providing recommendations for India’s new and revolutionary rooftop policy.
He now leads the centre of excellence in Energy Sciences and e-Mobility at Atria University (Bengaluru), focused on solving social problems in the energy and e-mobility sector through interdisciplinary research, academics, external training, and incubation. The centre of excellence aims to tackle systemic issues slowing down the energy transition and promote systems thinking in this space.
