The Environment Agency has opened applications for its 2026 Industry Placements and Summer Internship Programme. These are fantastic paid opportunities for people looking to start a career in the environmental sector. Applications are open until 15 February 2026.

Industry Placements (starting September 2026)

These year‑long placements are designed for students who need to complete a placement as part of their degree.

In Cumbria & Lancashire Area, the Environmental Agency are aiming to host four placements and these all fall within the Environment & Science category:

These paid internships run for 12 weeks and are ideal for students or recent graduates exploring environmental careers.
