The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences are seeking to appoint a Chair (with rank of professor). The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar of international standing within the field of Earth and environmental sciences, with a proven track record of world-leading, high-impact, externally-funded research in an area which strengthens and complements existing School activities. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to make outstanding contributions to impact and/or public outreach, and to prominently represent the University of St Andrews in the UK and internationally. Candidates will hold a doctorate in a cognate discipline. To facilitate excellence in research, impact and/or outreach, the position will have a significantly reduced teaching and administration load for the first five years, along with a generous support package.  The primary criteria for appointment will be evidence of: (1) an outstanding track record of world-leading research; (2) sustained success in securing external research funding; and (3) an ambitious and credible vision for delivering significant impact beyond academia.
