Next Meeting: 14:00-15:30 CET, January 24, 2025
Discussant: Nikita Taniparti
Moderator: Asmus Rungby
On 24 January the Anthropology/Energy Reading Group will convene to discuss Hannah Knox’s open-access book: ‘Thinking Like a Climate: Governing a City in Times of Environmental Change (2020)‘. It provides an ethnography of policymakers and expertise in Machester, UK, describing their efforts to create a digital model of the city of Manchester in order to comprehend and act upon their city’s relationship with the “climate system.”
Meeting attendance is open to all. As with previous book-length works, we suggest that attendees read the introduction, conclusion, and at least one internal chapter of the book that speaks to their interests. Regular attendees share responsibilities for suggesting future readings and occasionally hosting, moderating, or presenting discussant comments at the beginning of specific meetings. We look forward to expanding our repertoires and adding additional discussion formats in 2025.
