The Centre for Energy Ethics Director Professor Mette High was invited to present at a closed-door event hosted on 30 September 2025 in Edinburgh by Scotland Beyond Net Zero and the Scottish Funding Council.
The event, titled ‘Tackling the Climate Emergency‘, brought together researchers, policymakers and funders from across the country. Attendees explored groundbreaking research and innovative solutions from across all academic disciplines that are shaping a sustainable future. Through collaborative projects and cutting-edge technologies, universities demonstrated leadership in reducing carbon footprints and promoting environmental resilience. Participants engaged with experts, gained insights from successful initiatives, and discovered how academia and society is working together to create lasting impacts for Scotland and beyond. The event showcased the transformative power of education in driving climate action.
Mette spoke in a Themed Networking Session with focuses on food, green finance and energy transitions alongside Professor John Underhill (Centre for Energy Transition), Professor Benjamin Williamson (UHI PELAgIO), Dr Paul Harvey (TransiT) and Professor Jo Sharp (St Andrews Centre for Critical Sustainabilities).
