There is an exciting PhD opportunity in Environmental Governance at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources (FER) at North Carolina State University. This project focuses on the institutional and political economic dimensions of forest carbon offsetting. This is a fully funded 4-year position. More details in the attached pdf.

The PhD student will be expected to develop an interdisciplinary project and will be mentored by me and other faculty at FER. There is much flexibility in developing the ideas – methodological, theoretical, and geographic, though the core objective is to expand a critical debate about the role of forests in carbon governance.

Students with a background in geography and science and technology studies (STS) are strongly encouraged to apply. The student will be expected to begin in August 2025.

Reviews of applications will begin on 1st December 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Please feel free to reach out with questions.
