The Radioactive Waste Management Research Support Office (RWM RSO), launched earlier this year, has announced its first PhD bursary call for proposals. The 2020 PhD bursary call requests applications in six topic areas that have been identified as high priority for RWM, including applied social research. The scheme will provide up to £120,000 worth of funding to UK academic institutions for four year PhD projects. Funding sufficient for a 4 year UK – and 3+ for o/seas. The Ph.D. can be held at any UK University. Applications have to be in by 16th December.
Seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Fellow to pursue an innovative research program focused on the changing interface between global energy markets and domestic energy and climate policy, politics and governance in Canada. The successful candidate will be part of the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue’s new project entitled Changing Orders: Shaping the Future and Securing Rights in a World in Transformation, described below. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Professor Monica Gattinger and hosted by the Institute for Science, Society and Policy (ISSP), one of the four centres leading the Changing Orders project.
The FPRN is delighted to announce that the first round of their small grants programme is now open. The Engaging with Energy Poverty in Early Career (EPEC) project aims to support Early Career Researchers and Practitioners (within the first 10 years of their career) and post graduate students with an interest in fuel and energy poverty to undertake original research or secondary analysis to advance the field and to bring forward publications (through buying time to complete analysis and write). Applications are encouraged which promote links between academics and practitioners working in the field. Applicants do not have to work squarely in fuel or energy poverty to apply but your proposal must relate to the field. The closing date for applications is 15th January 2021.
Memorial University are looking for a PhD student interested in cultural representations of offshore energy. The position will be funded through my Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada project, “Oil Rigs and Islands,” and Memorial University. Reflecting its geographic position on an island in the North Atlantic, Memorial prioritizes ocean-focused research.
