Research assistant

Biography

My background is in the radio/video production industry. I trained as a BBC Production Assistant and worked as a researcher and Broadcast Assistant on various Radio Scotland live shows and BBC Scotland live broadcasts. I left the BBC to work for an independent Edinburgh-based production company producing commercials and corporate programmes for clients including Tunnocks, RBS, Halifax, Bowmore, Optical Express and Glenfiddich.

At this time I started taking on freelance projects as a Researcher and eventually set up my own independent production company Bonnie Brae Productions, based in Dundee and working with clients including DCA, Dundee Rep, Dundee City Council, Royal Scottish Opera, Scottish Dance Theatre and V&A. For Dundee University I researched and produced 4 MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) including the multi-award nominated ‘Identifying the Dead’, which can all be viewed on the FutureLearn platform. I have undertaken several oral history projects as a Lead Researcher including the Strathmartine Hospital Histories project in which I found and interviewed former residents, staff and members of the community to build up a picture of Scotland’s first and oldest institution for people with a learning disability. Some of my work can be seen here: www.bonniebrae.co.uk

I currently work part-time for the University of St Andrews as a Postgraduate Administrator and as a Research Assistant for Dr Mette M. High.
