The researcher will be expected to join the team of the UKRI/ERC ‘Gender and Precarity at the Energy Frontier’ (GENERATE) project. Within the GENERATE project, the researcher will undertake an independent course of work to explore the role of community organisations, advocacy groups, local government and other organisational intermediaries in promoting just energy transitions in the Western Balkans. The project will involve, in the main, a creative, participative qualitative, placed-based investigation of the socio-ecological and political opportunities for overcoming current forms of intersectional marginalisation and disadvantage in the energy sector in the Western Balkans. There will be a special emphasis on the different ways in which gendered energy precarity is induced and contested by state policy, as well as the governance practices that underpin different low-carbon interventions at the local and regional scale.
