The Department of Political Science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher position in Political Economy, with a focus on the digital, green, and/or geo-economic transition. Application deadline: 27 June 2026.
The successful candidate will develop an independent research agenda in comparative or international political economy, ideally connected to industrial policy, sustainability transitions, digital transformation, or geo-economic change. The role also includes teaching responsibilities (approximately 1.5 courses per semester), supervising undergraduate theses, contributing to examinations, mentoring master’s students, and supporting grant applications and academic workshops.
Applicants should hold a completed doctoral degree in Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or a closely related field by the start date of employment. Fluency in English is required. Additional assets include the ability to teach in German, evidence of strong teaching performance, publications, engagement in academic networks, and experience with grant-funded research.

The position follows the German public-sector pay scale (TV-L EG 13, 75%), with an annual gross salary of approximately €50,000 depending on prior experience.
