We were delighted to learn that earlier this month that Dr Emilka Skrzypek, the CEE Deputy Director, and the Programme Director of our MSc in Energy Policy and Finance, was awarded a 2025 Golden Dandelion Award. Emilka received a double award, for two modules she has developed for the MSc: GD5111 – Energy Inequalities and Climate Responsibilities, and GD5113 – Energy and Climate Change Policy.

“These modules are emblematic of our MSc programme. They combine academic learning and critical reflection with development of practical skills and professional attributes needed to help shape better, more sustainable energy futures.” – said Emilka, “I am delighted to receive the award – and grateful to the committee for recognising the work of everyone involved in the modules. Staff and students alike.”

Now in its sixth year, the Golden Dandelion Awards – named for the pioneering plant that is usually the first to flower in spring – . are coordinated by the SiTC Committee, who invite submissions of curriculum modules that demonstrate considerable contribution to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Previous winning modules include the Anthropology of Energy, co-created by Prof Mette High, Dr Sean Field, and Dr Pauline Destrée, and Looking after Eden, created by Dr Antje Brown.

The MSc in Energy Policy and Finance programme, which these two courses form a significant part of, has been specifically designed to match and address the complexity of the world’s energy conundrum – how to create an equitable and sustainable energy future. Applications for September 2025 entry to the MSc are open now. To find out more, and to apply, go to: Energy Policy and Finance MSc – Subjects – University of St Andrews
