SUMMARY:Sketching Stories of Climate Anxiety
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Fife Climate Festival ( https://energyethics.st-andrews.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Fife-Climate-Festival-List-of-Events.pdf ), this family-friendly (age 12+) workshop will explore climate justice and climate anxiety through different examples of storytelling and creative expression. \n \nRegister Now\n \nDr Bridget Bradley will share some findings from her research project, Eco Worrier, Eco Warrior which explores climate anxiety for people across generations in Britain. Inspired by different artists and collaborators, we will consider how the arts might help us to understand, represent and manage emotional responses to climate change. In this workshop, Bridget will be joined by Mary Freedman, a mixed-media artist and interdisciplinary researcher, and together they will encourage participants to ‘sketch’ their own stories relating to emotions and environment. In particular, we will use coal, charcoal, on paper and cardboard and try to map the stories that these materials tell us in the time of climate crisis. The event hopes to provide a creative space to learn about the health impacts of climate change, and allow participants a space to share their concerns relating to the climate crisis, with a focus on creativity and positivity.\n
