SUMMARY:Coal and Energy Transitions in India
DESCRIPTION:India is one of the biggest coal producers and carbon emitters in the world. While the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently pledged to cut its emissions to net zero by 2070, this remains a formidable challenge given India’s high reliance on coal-driven energy, as well as the dependence on coal-based livelihoods of the many communities inhabiting its coalfields.
